Ocean Waves for Those Wanting a Rest From the Gulls! :-)
I don't believe there's a prominent bird sound to be heard on this recording, so it's one you can play for those times when you don't want to take a chance on waking up with seagull poo all over you. :-)
I have all but a couple or so of the Nature Sound Series recordings, and this one, like the rest, is simply wonderful.

Serene ocean waves with a very gradual beach incline
I've been searching around for some ocean tropical sounds that weren't California coast labelled as Hawaiian (with gulls and buoy bells in the background) and this is the closest one I've found.
The recording sounds like the mic was placed low to the ground near the sand of a beach that an extremely looooong shallow shore. By this, I mean that the loudness of the water lapping goes from very quiet (suggesting far away) to "right there at your toes". This immediately defines the type of beach that it sounds like. The waves are serene and calm with almost no crashing waves at all.
There are no birds, and no rocks that the water breaks on, and definitely no boats/buoys, which I liked; important for a "tropical beach sound". However, the beach also sounds barren of palm trees (no wind rustling the palms). So this is straight calm ocean on open sand. Due to the calmness of the waves, it sounds like this is either midday or in a cove.
My biggest complaint is that there seems to be silent pauses, as if multiple ocean sound clips were blended one after another when their volumes were low. This discontinuity kills the illusion of reality, even if subliminal.
