LET YOUR VOICE BE THE STAR
Love the unique work you've done on Idol.
Lights On does not showcase your voice.
There's too much noise from the drums and at times you seem
as though you have scream to overcome the loudness
of the drums.
You and your guitar with BACKground that blends and supports
vs. competes would showcase your talents better
Not sure if it's overproduced or what--but
I agree with some other's comment
Simple is better.
Let your lyrics and your voice be the star.
(Album cover doesn't capture the warmth and connection
you have that magnetizes people, nor does the song)

Welcome Back, David!
OK, now I remember why I voted and voted for David! This song is awesome!! I'm a rocker and have been for many years. And David amazed me at what he did with the songs he sang. If this is a hint to what will be on his CD, then I and all his fans will be extremely happy.
Also, on occasion, David's voice was week (on Idol or after it with the other song), but he sings strong and his voice is great in this song. Rock on David!!

David Cook is the optimum Idol alumni, hands down!
This song is merely addictive. I could listen to it thousand times a day and never get tired of it. Mr. Cook just never fails to move me. He's a remarkable talent. He has a style in singing that is versatile and intriguing and also the potential to electrify the audience with his smooth, amorous hunky voice. Not only does he have sex appeal but he has a huge heart.
I LOVE YOU DAVID COOK!
XOXOXO

This song is all I wanted it to be
I want to preface this review with a statement that I have been a huge David Cook fan since the get go. I have spent the summer with his Idol and pre-idol music on my mp3 player, in impatient anticipation of what would be next. This song, "Light On" was the perfect next step. It has the same sort of vibe as "Analog Heart" and "Incoherent with Desire to Move On" but ramped up and moving forward. It is an excellent showcase for Dave's range and sticks in your mind. The instrumentation is wonderous, Neal's guitar playing is, as always, stellar. It rocks but is a good transition from the pop of "Time of My Life". 2008-10-23

Leavin' the Light On for my loved ones
Wow! I really, really like "Light On." I love rock ballads, always have. David Cook does a very good job with this one. It's like he's confiding in us and we feel his pain; not unlike feelings that each of us has had when separated from loved ones. His voice just sucks us in - it makes the song so emotional. He also has quite the talent that in parts of the song, his voice sounds so fierce and then, all of a sudden, it becomes so soft. And, even with all the mood changes, he still manages to enunciate perfectly (I actually understood every word with the first listen). Music lovers are ready for a good rock album. Good luck, David. 2008-10-20
