Pacha Massive's "Don't Let Go" - A Great Introduction To An Awesome Fusion Album
"Don't Let Go" is a laid back track, but a great introduction to a fantastic album, All Good Things. The rhythm and beat are well laid down and the chorus is very catchy. The Spanish rap on this track is also good and lends to an overall chill atmosphere. This is not the kind of mind-blowing rap that some are producing these days. But to repeat, I think this rap is intentionally laid back to not overpower the chill vibe of the song.

This is music for those who are into latin fusion and have eclectic tastes. Speaking Spanish is by no means a prerequisite to enjoying this, but it will definitely aid your enjoyment. :)

I hope you give this download a try and then give the whole album a try after that.

Enjoy!

This Song Will Grab You
Don't Let Go is a catchy pop tune that grabs you. What sounds like a cheesy drum machine lays down a nice easy feel at about 112 beats per minute. You can tap your toe and sing along. The mellow guitar melodies are reminiscent of Santana. The overall musical texture is a mix of latin and African rhythmic, harmonic and melodic figures, with electronic refractions, that might be characterized as a contemporary urban American sound. The only thing that's missing is a horn or two, maybe a sax or a trombone. The gentle female English lyrics with call and response are ambiguous. Is she saying goodbye to someone going where she will not? Is she trying to hold on? Is he leaving her for the all night party? The diction in the sultry male rap is poor so it's not clear whether or not it's Spanish or English (it's some of both). The bottom line, always, after all the critical listening, is do you like the song. The answer for me for this is song is yes.
