Cease Fire

"Cease Fire" was the tune that introduced me to Christian Scott's album, Anthem. I have to admit I have been quickly converted into a fan. Sometimes it's hard to tell if new music is really *jazz* or just music. I love all music, but a special love for Jazz has always been in my heart. That's why a new album by a contemporary artist like this is so amazing to me. It just seems like jazz records don't get made or promoted like they used to.

This music does transcend jazz though. This particular track is a great example of that. The rhythm section is just so incredible and provides the perfect backdrop for those high, slow, technically beautiful trumpet melodies.

I really hope that more people will get introduced to artists this great. Even though I have nothing personal to gain from it, the fact that real musical artists have trouble getting their due hurts us all. Definitely check this out. You won't be disappointed.
